Ohio's JRS Program

The West Central Ohio Industrial Center was officially certified as one of Ohio’s first Job Ready Sites in October 2010. Its certification means less risk, faster completion, and lower costs for your project. 

The Ohio Job Ready Sites Program was created to bolster the State of Ohio’s portfolio of industrial sites. Properties in this program were strategically chosen for their ability to provide optimal infrastructure capabilities and attract economy shifting investment. Funds from the Ohio Job Ready Sites Program were targeted to offset costs traditionally incurred in speculative industrial development, to accelerate investment decisions and to maximize the development potential of each property.

The West Central Ohio Industrial Center (WCOIC), located in Wapakoneta, was chosen as one of Ohio’s first Job Ready Site locations. With the State’s JRS grant and the City of Wapakoneta’s investment, more than $7 million has been invested in developing this 700+ acre industrial park at the intersection of Interstate 75 and US 33. The WCOIC is now an industrial park that is truly Beyond Shovel Ready – with project sites ranging from 40 to 471 acres. 

Projects that received funding from the Ohio Job Ready Sites Program were required to satisfy stringent industry standards in order to receive Certification. These standards were developed by the Ohio Department of Development and third party engineering and site selection firms with numerous years of experience in commercial and industrial development. An Ohio Job Ready Site Certification ensures future investors that the property meets site selection standards and includes the necessary attributes demanded by today’s leading corporations.

The West Central Ohio Industrial Center was certified by The Austin Company.  Founded in 1878, it is a Cleveland-based design-build construction firm.  Austin serves commercial and industrial clients worldwide in locating, designing, and implementing manufacturing plants, distribution centers, research and development facilities, and office operations.
